This summer, Visscher Construction & Restoration opened its doors to a group of enthusiastic WSCC students for “College for Kids.” The workshop was designed to ignite a passion for the trades among the younger generation, offering them a hands-on experience that went beyond the classroom.

During their visit, the students embarked on a comprehensive tour of our facilities, where they engaged directly with various aspects of the building industry. JB provided a hands-on experience with a pre-built wooden frame, guiding them through connecting wiring and activating an electrical outlet—a task that brought theoretical learning to life.

Jim, our office manager, demonstrated how he keeps operations running smoothly. Kevin, our design specialist, introduced the students to the high-tech world of 3D design renderings, showing how ideas are brought to life before construction begins. Meanwhile, team members Cody and Micha imparted essential interior building skills, and Sam demonstrated the art of metal siding.

By the end of the day, our young visitors had not just learned about building; they had touched, felt, and experienced the work that shapes our world. It’s days like these that reinforce our commitment to educating the next generation of builders.
